Difference between: Jamón and prosciutto

It was requested of me to do a Jamón Serrano versus prosciutto post, but in doing my research, I discovered there’s actually another subcategory of Jamón besides Serrano we’ll have to delve into.

Traditional Stromboli

This recipe that I found here is of a traditional Stromboli as in it is pizza-like. A calzone, basically.

As with my pull-apart cheesy bread recipe, this one will take some practice before looking as pretty as it can, but boy, is it tasty regardless.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pizza crust dough*
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce, plus more for dipping
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella and/or provolone cheese
  • 8 slices salami
  • 6 slices deli honey ham
  • 1 egg
  • dried parsley and Parmesan cheese, for sprinkling

*I used Pillsbury pizza crust. The original creator of the recipe links to a homemade pizza dough recipe. Or, one of her commenters mentioned using French bread instead.

Cheesy scalloped potatoes with chopped ham

This recipe comes from the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. In addition to leaving out the ham, you can also leave out the cheese. You know, if you’re not a normal person and you don’t like cheese.
