In starting my own blog, I’ve been trying to get into reading others’ blogs. There are a lot of great ones out there, and of course I’m always open to suggestions of new blogs to follow (anyone know of a good cat related blog?).
But honestly, at the moment, there are only two that I follow religiously.
One of them is On the Edge, by a very popular local blogger who writes for the Times Union, Kristi Gustafson Barlette.
She blogs about local news, weird news, fashion stuff, wedding stuff, other random stuff, and she also has “a reader asks” feature, where readers write in asking for advice on various things. Commenters then say their thoughts on the situation, and sometimes they’re
incredibly rude brutally honest.
The other one is Mara Wilson Writes Stuff. Mara Wilson is the cute little girl from Matilda, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Miracle on 34th Street. As she’s grown up, she’s doing less acting and more writing.
One of the many things I like about Mara’s blog posts is that they’re usually quite long; blog posts are typically short, to accommodate for everyone’s short attention spans. But she isn’t afraid to put it all out there, and write as much as she needs to, to say what she needs to say.
Rock on to both Kristi and Mara.
